OwlCrate Unboxing July 2018 | Strange and Unusual

July’s OwlCrate theme was ‘Strange and Unusual’ and well… ‘I myself am strange, and unusual’ so I was pretty excited for this even though I wasn’t familiar with most of the books.

Anyway, this box included items inspired by: Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, The Raven Boys, Harry Potter, and Stranger Things.

The Book

This month’s book was My Plain Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows, and signed by all three authors! I haven’t read My Lady Jane yet but luckily they’re both standalones so I’m pretty excited to get round to this as it seems a little different!

Pennant

This exclusive pennant flag was designed by Risa Rodil and inspired by Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. I’m not too sure what I’m supposed to do with it but I do like the design nonetheless!

Funko Keyring

Anyone who knows me even a little knows that I have a very bad obsession with Funko items, so I was pretty happy to find this Eleven keyring! Subscribers either got Eleven or Dustin.

Push Pins

These little skull designed exclusive push pins are pretty cute! I don’t really have anyway of using them but I’m keeping them for a day when I know what I can do with them.

Mints

This ouija designed box of mints (which had little planchette-shaped mints) was a cool addition, it also made from a tasty treat in work.

Purse

This exclusive purse was designed by Reverie and Ink, and inspired by The Raven Boys. Although I haven’t read the series this is definitely a beautiful design!

Print

This was a special art print designed by Aun-Juli Riddle, as a major fan of prints and art I loved this piece! It’s just so gorgeous.

Sticker

This Luna Lovegood vinyl sticker is by TJ Lubrano, and it’s just so cute! I love the quote too as it’s one of my favourites from Harry Potter.

Overall

I definitely liked this box, it might not have been very book-inspired heavy but the art print is just so different and pretty and the purse is not just beautiful but also practical! Definitely also looking forward to getting round to the book.

Next Month – Ruthless Royals 👑

From OwlCrate themselves:

‘Would you survive if you were thrust into a devious royal court? Our August box is all about royals who rule and win; no matter the cost.
Our book pick is an intense story about two sisters who are thrown into a world of court politics, brutal competition and fierce rulers. When they are separated from one another, each girl must figure out unique ways to survive. We will be including an incredible exclusive edition of the book (very different from the original), which is signed by the author!
There will also be beautiful items inspired by The Belles, Throne of Glass, Disney and more! There is also a special item inspired by The Cruel Prince that we know you guys are going to freak out over! It’s gorgeous, and something we’ve never included before.

So… I know what the book is, straight up, because I’ve read it and I loved it and I already have a copy but I’m definitely excited to see the OwlCrate edition! It’s one of those books which I’m happy to be getting another copy of.
And those books items are inspired by! The Belles, Throne of Glass and The Cruel Prince are all amongst my favourite reads of this year so naturally I’m 1,000,000% excited for this!
