Goals for 2018

2017 was a pretty big year for me – I made a lot of changes and I got through a lot emotionally. So I’m pretty excited to see what 2018 will bring for me!

As I mentioned on my post ‘Revisiting My Ambitions for 2017‘ this year has been pretty great – I quit my job to follow my dream into a more creative career path. I finally had the guts to set up an Etsy store for my art too (and had some sales). But my biggest achievement is feeling happier with myself.

It’s such a simple thing and one I’ve neglected to really work on before this year but I’m glad to be in a position where I know what will pick me back up again when I’m low.

Onwards and Upwards!

For 2018 (which sounds futuristically unreal to a 1993 baby) there are a few key things that I most definitely want to achieve, so, here it goes!

1. A digital marketing placement

This is a big one for me, it will be one of the first things I do in 2018 and I’m actually really, really, looking forward to it! It’s strange to have been out of work for so long, and I’ve tried my hardest to make some money for myself off eBay and Etsy but it’s not been that easy. The worst is falling out of a routine though, I need my time filled up with more again and a placement would be one of the answers for that.

2. Start writing a book

Okay, this is basically one of those dreamer type goals and I completely understand that, but I’d love to write a novel one day! I think I’ll take part in NaNoWriMo in November and hopefully get started then. I have so many ideas though due to my general never-stop thinking brain it’s unreal.

3. Get fit and healthy

It’s back, albeit I don’t think it’s important enough to place at the top anymore and I’m counting that as personal progress! I’ve made a lot of changes to help with my emotional wellbeing in 2017 but there can always be room for improvement in my opinion.

4. 50 sales on my Etsy

I’m at 8 sales after half a year, so this might look slightly too ambitious but I am definitely going to try my best to get as many sales as possible! And who knows, maybe by December 2018 I’ll look back at this list and be surprised at only wanting 50 sales!

5. Graduate with a Merit in my Masters Degree

I started my Masters Degree wanting a Distinction, and although I would obviously still prefer that I think that some of the events at the beginning of my studies may have hindered my chances of this. I’m on track for a Merit however and I think that will go quite well with my 2.1 grade for my Undergraduate Degree in Geography!

Scratch that, I’m on track for a Distinction and I would like a Distinction. No less!

6. Read 45 books

I think it’s probably pretty easy to see based off my latest posts how happy I am to be reading again! So I’d like to set a goal to read 45 books in 2018. I’m hoping for more like 50 but I’ll be happy with 45 considering it’s likely to be a busy year for me!

7. Start a career in Digital Marketing

Lucky number 7! So as part of my degree I’ll be doing a placement, but following on from that I’d love to gain a full time position in Digital Marketing. Preferably in content writing but I’d also be interested in working with Social Media. I’m quite excited for the day I have a career in Digital Marketing, I think that will be the highlight of 2018 for me!

I can’t stress this enough though, I am so glad I took a risk and went back to university, and I’m so thankful for my family and friends for supporting me throughout.

You all mean the world to me, thank you for helping me in 2017.
